Things You Need To Know To Become An International Nurse In Singapore

None

A nurse, in general, is a highly trained professional who is responsible for the holistic care and well-being of patients. There are many ways you can practice your nursing profession. Some nurses are educated to care for medical surgical patients, while others specialize in the emergency room. Nurses can also pick their specializations; for example, some nurses prefer to work with renal patients, while others prefer to work with oncology patients. In Singapore, nurses are high in demand. If you are an international registered nurse and you wish to practice in this country, here’s what you need to know.

Demand For International Nurses

Nurses deal with healthcare, which is constantly in demand, regardless of the season or field. As a result, nurses are always in high demand. People are constantly constructing hospitals to meet the demands of the public. If it isn't a hospital, they are constructing other enterprises that require nurses to care for their staff.

The main truth is that nurses are always in demand, so you'll have a better chance of landing a job right away.

Categories Of Nurses In Singapore

In Singapore, there are two types of nurses: Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses. Enrolled Nurses (EN) and Registered Nurses (RN) get different training and, as a result, practice in various areas. ENs currently work under the direct supervision of RNs. They help RNs in providing patient-centered care. After becoming an Enrolled Nurse, you can advance to the position of Senior Enrolled Nurse and assume greater duties. Similarly, you can improve your skills by taking Post-NITEC courses.

Eligibility

To be eligible for registration/enrollment as a foreign-trained nurse, you must have the following:

  • Completion of a pre-registration / pre-enrolment nursing program that is equivalent to an accredited pre-registration / pre-enrolment nursing program in Singapore (as determined by SNB)
  • Nursing/midwifery registration from the country where you were trained
  • Current practicing license as a nurse or midwife; relevant clinical nursing practice in your home country within the last 5 years.

Nursing Board Exam

The Singapore Nursing Board Registered Nurse Licensure Examination (SNB RN) is a standard test for nurses with a diploma or a bachelor's degree who want to work in Singapore. Nurses who pass this test will be registered with the Singapore Nursing Council and will be eligible to work in Singapore.

Nurses seeking registration with the Board take the Licensure Examinations locally and internationally from January to October each year. The Licensure Examinations represent competencies for safe and current practice in Singapore, and they are used by SNB to evaluate whether or not applicants are eligible to practice in Singapore.

SNB Practising Certificate Renewal

You'll be registered with the Singapore Nursing Board after passing the Licensure Exam, but you'll also need a valid SNB Practicing Certificate to work as an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse in Singapore. Every year, nurses must renew their SNB Practicing Certificate. As previously stated, the renewal price for a Registered Nurse and an Enrolled Nurse will be $45 and $30, respectively.

Staff nurse employment is wonderful since you have a strong chance of earning enough money for the future and obtaining Singapore citizenship. You can bring your family member to Singapore if you become a Singaporean citizen.
