Foreign Nurse To Singapore - Building Your Nursing Career

None

The demand for qualified healthcare personnel in Singapore continues to be driven by the aging population and the pandemic. Singapore is one of the most popular destinations for international nurses. Staff nurse employment is wonderful. There are so many opportunities that await you.

Eligibility Requirement For Foreign Nurses

Nurses with foreign training who intend to work in Singapore must register with SNB. Before SNB can accept your application for registration or enrolment, you must have an offer of employment from an appropriate healthcare hospital or institution in Singapore.

The hospital/institution offering you work must email SNB to inquire about their eligibility to hire foreign qualified nurses. HRs can then submit an application for registration/enrolment on your behalf using an online application once you've been authorized.

To be qualified for registration/enrolment as a foreign-trained nurse, you must have the following qualifications:

  • Completion of a pre-registration/pre-enrolment nursing program equal to a Singapore-accredited pre-registration/pre-enrolment nursing program (as determined by SNB);
  • Registration as a nurse or midwife in the nation where you were educated; and ii. nursing or midwifery license in good standing;
  • Within the last 5 years, relevant clinical nursing practice in your own country.

Singapore Nursing Board Exam

SNB stands for Singapore Nursing Board Exam. It is administered by the Singapore Nursing Council and must be passed to work in Singapore. You can register as a nurse with the Singapore Nursing Council if you pass the exam and begin your career as a nurse in Singapore. If you hold an SNB license, you can migrate to Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

Processing of Work Permits and Visas

Selected candidates will be notified through email, and you must begin the application procedure to travel to Singapore. Exam results usually take 15 to one month to be announced, depending on the exam. You can apply for a work permit in Singapore after passing the exam. This work pass is essential since anyone working in Singapore must have one; otherwise, they will be sent out of the country.

Following the Application

An In Principal Approval (IPA) letter should be sent to your company. Your employer has six months to bring you to Singapore. You will be provided with an employment pass, or sixty days if you are applying for an S pass. Although, to receive your pass, you must be in Singapore.

Once you've landed in Singapore, you'll need the following items to obtain your pass:

  • information on your current immigration pass
  • disembarkation/embarkation card;
  • a completed medical examination or a completed health declaration form;
  • an address in Singapore that meets the housing criteria

Letters of Notification

Once your employer has completed the relevant issuance stages and your pass has been granted, you will receive a notice letter. It has a one-month validity period, however, it can be extended. You can start working and traveling in and out of Singapore while you wait for your pass card.

Employees are also advised in the notification letter whether they must register their photo and fingerprints within two weeks of receiving their permit. This will take place at a Manpower Services Center run by the Ministry of Manpower.

In order to recruit highly trained professionals and talents, Singapore hospitals and clinics are giving top wages and enticing benefits packages to attract international specialists. This is the best time for you to apply as a nurse in Singapore as the demand is high for international nurses.
