Growing up in a nation where access to healthcare is still a major concern, it should come as no surprise that the rising need for nurses influences the educational choices of today's youth. And like thousands of aspiring nurses, you succeeded in the end! You're one step closer to becoming a registered nurse now that you've finished nursing school. However, before you can practice nursing professionally in the Philippines, you must pass the Nursing Licensure Exam (NLE). If you want to pass the exam and get the dream license, enroll with us.
A Short Background
The Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam, which takes into account both theoretical and practical skills, serves as the best indicator of all that a nurse has learned throughout his academic career. It draws on the potential of the aspiring nurse and determines whether the newly graduated nurse has the knowledge and abilities required to provide clients with professional standards of care in a successful and safe manner.
According to the guidelines set forth in Republic Act No. 7164, also known as the Philippine Nursing Act of 2002, the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) administers the Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam as a uniform test to regulate the professional practice of nursing in the nation. This is, in a nutshell, the best nurse's handbook in the nation.
The Professional Regulation Commission oversees the Philippine Board of Nursing, an administrative body that controls nursing practice in the country.
All license applicants must successfully complete a written test given by the Board of Nursing of the Professional Regulation Commission, according to the Philippine Nursing Act of 1991.
The PRC and the Professional Regulatory Board of Nursing conduct the Nurses Licensure Examination (NLE) in accordance with this law twice a year. Dates for the 2021 PRC Licensure Examinations, as well as details on when online applications will begin to be processed and when they must be submitted, were recently made public by the PRC.
The 500-item Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination measures basic nursing-level competency while taking into account the nursing curriculum's objectives, the profession's general areas of practice, and other relevant disciplines and competencies. It takes place in a number of public schools across the Philippines every June and December. At least three days prior to the exam, the exam room assignments are posted outside the Professional Regulation Commission building.
The Passing Rate
An examinee must receive a general average score of at least 75% and a score of no lower than 60% in each of the five subjects in order to become a registered nurse in the Philippines.
There are times when an examinee receives a passing score or higher on the overall average but a rating of less than 60% on any of the five subjects. If so, only the subject(s) where the examinee scored lower than 60% must be retaken on the exam.
The Results
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Nursing announced the November 2022 Nursing Licensure Exam (NLE) results in twelve (12) working days following the final exam day. The results included the complete board list of passers, the top 10 examinees, and the overall performance of schools.
There are 24,903 candidates who took the November 2022 Nursing Licensure Examination. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) reported that only 18,529 (74.40%) of them passed.
On the other hand, out of 9,729 people who took the exam on May 29 and 30, 2022, 6,616 (68.01%) passed it in the second quarter of the year.
On November 12 and 13, 2022 (Saturday and Sunday), the National Capital Region (NCR) and various provinces across the nation held testing sessions for the most recent NLE exam.
